I know, it’s hard to believe but Dance Connection is in full “Recital Prep” mode already! We’re cutting music, monitoring costume orders, picking out props and scenery, beginning choreography in classes, and we’ve begun Recital Company rehearsals.
The start of Recital Company is always exciting because every year has a different theme, the costumes are always so creative and fun, and the company is filled with dancers that may be trying it out for the first time. I love that Recital Company brings many of our dancers that may only be weekly classes into their first audition experience, their first real stage production, and to more performance experience.
I always enjoy watching the first-timers progress from being reserved and timid (not always the case however, I’ve seen a few throw themselves right in) to these amazingly confident pros when they hit the stage during dress rehearsal week.
It is so exciting to think that the staging and scenery are being developed and soon we’ll be having more paint and construction parties!
The opening number at our recitals is something I look forward to all year. I really think it’s part of what makes our studio special. What are you looking forward to this year with our recital? What was your favorite Recital Company production? (I may have hinted at one of my faves with the photo for this post) Let us know in the comments below and make sure to check out the video of the Recital Company in rehearsal!
