Dance Connection’s Art classes introduce children to basic art skills, strengthening their knowledge in art, and further developing art vocabulary and techniques. The program includes engaging projects in drawing, painting, and mixed media, allowing students to explore various artistic mediums and express their creativity.

Denise Nuñez
Art Teacher
Denise has always had a love for the arts. She has worked with many different media and has explored a variety of techniques in drawing, painting, and sculpting. Denise holds a BA in Psychology from SBU, where she also took a number of art classes in drawing and art history. As a mother of four, she loves working with kids and is often putting together group projects for all the children in her family. She has even lead group art projects via Zoom when families couldn’t be together. She is very excited to join the Dance Connection team.

Our Art Program is a fun, creative class where students explore visual art through hands-on projects. Each week, young artists work with different materials and techniques—painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and more—while developing their creativity, fine motor skills, and self-expression.
Our Art classes are designed for children ages 5 & up.
Art can be messy—please dress your child in clothes that can get a little paint or glue on them. Smocks are provided in class when needed, but we still recommend “art-friendly” clothing.
Each week, students explore new art techniques and materials while learning about color, shape, line, texture, and composition. The class focuses on building creativity, problem-solving, and confidence through the joy of making art.
Yes! Throughout the year, we host special Art Showcases where families can view their child’s creations and celebrate their progress. Many students also bring home projects to share with family along the way.
Absolutely! We believe in transparency and connection. Parents are always welcome to observe class. Our Islip location features observation windows and we also provide secure access to our private live stream app—so you can watch from anywhere or share your child’s dance moments with family near and far.
Art classes are offered at our Islip location. This facility offers studios that are secure, child-friendly environments with caring staff and live observation options so you can stay connected to your dancer’s journey.
