Jumps & Turns will increase a student’s movement vocabulary by introducing a variety of turns, leaps, and the mechanics of stronger dancing. Additionally, it will build a dancer’s technical foundation for precise and controlled movements.

Donna Iaboni
Director, Studio Operations
Donna joined the Dance Connection staff in 1992. Her dance training and teaching experience consists of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Pointe, Hip Hop and Acro. Donna spent many years involved in multiple Long Island theaters performing in shows such as “Sweet Charity”, “Guys and Dolls”, and “Chicago”. She also spent 2 years as an apprentice with the Martha Meredith Dance Co., and auditioned for the world famous Radio City Rockettes. Donna is currently one of our recital and competition company teachers and has choreographed regional and national award winning dances. She has danced and choreographed for performances in Walt Disney World, Las Vegas, aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, and with world renowned choreographers and dancers. Donna has enjoyed dancing since the age of 10 and teaching for almost 40 years. Donna continues to educate herself with teacher workshops, books and seminars to stay current and fresh for her students to receive the most up to date styles and training. Donna is a proud member of IADMS, The International Assoc for Dance Medicine and Science which provides teachers and other professionals in the field with expertise on stretching, injury prevention, nutrition, hyper mobility, and more. She is thrilled to have shared most of her life with her DC family! Miss Donna loves teaching alongside her daughter, Miss Brooke-Ashley.

Jumps & Turns is a technique-focused class designed to help dancers improve the mechanics and execution of their leaps, jumps, turns, and overall body control. This class does not focus on choreography but instead drills the specific skills dancers need to excel in all styles.
This class is open to dancers ages 10 & up who are currently enrolled in both ballet and jazz and have completed at least three full years of ballet training. This ensures dancers have the technical foundation needed for the advanced skills taught in class.
This class focuses on:
Clean and consistent turns (pirouettes, fouettés, a la seconde, etc.)
Leaps and jumps with height, control, and correct alignment
Preparation and landing technique
Balance, spotting, and core strength
Drills and progressions to build control and confidence
These elements support stronger performances in jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, and competition routines.
No—this class is not a choreography class. It is purely technical and designed to enhance performance in other dance styles through focused skill development.
No. Dancers must be actively enrolled in both ballet and jazz classes. Jumps & Turns is intended as a supplemental class to reinforce and advance skills taught in those core techniques.
No. Jumps & Turns is a non-performance class, focused entirely on building and refining technique. Dancers will apply the skills learned here in their performance and choreography classes.
