Frequently Asked Questions

Pointe is a classical ballet technique where dancers perform on the tips of their toes using specially designed pointe shoes. It is an advanced extension of ballet training that emphasizes strength, alignment, balance, and grace.

Pointe work typically begins around teenage years, but there is no set age. Instead, dancers are evaluated individually to determine if they have the technical strength, alignment, maturity, and experience needed for safe and successful pointe work.

Our ballet faculty conducts readiness assessments based on:

  • Years of consistent ballet training

  • Strong core, ankle, and foot strength

  • Proper body alignment and technique

  • Instructor recommendation and physical readiness

Safety is our top priority—we never rush dancers into pointe before they’re prepared.

All pointe dancers study ballet, but not all ballet dancers are on pointe. Pointe work is a specialized skill that builds on years of ballet technique, requiring additional strength and control.

  • Dancers must be enrolled in a minimum number of 2 ballet classes per week.

  • Students must receive instructor approval before beginning pointe.

  • Pointe work is added gradually and monitored closely for safety and proper development.
