This past week Dance Connection’s Competition Team competed at the Dancer’s Inc. Nationals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and capped off a fantastic year with 14 Elite Awards, 12 Prestige Elite Awards, 10 2nd-10th Place Overall Awards, 5 Special Awards, 5 Final Showcase Invitations, 4 1st Place Overall Awards, a Title Award, Studio Technique Award, Judge’s Choice Award, Excellence in Entertainment Award, and a Production Champion Award. As current title holders, Mr. Thomas crowned this year’s Teen Mr. Dancer’s Inc. and Miss Emily crowned this year’s Dancer’s Inc. Dancer of the Year. Everyone let loose and celebrated the competition year at the competition gala on Thursday night.

Aside from a fantastic year of competition, our team performed in Step Into Christmas, our brand new holiday performance that raised $5,000 for Gavin’s Got Heart, The Make-A Wish of Suffolk County Holiday Party and Annual Gala, the Islip Town Holiday Parade, Dancers Responding to AIDS “Stars of Tomorrow” Fundraiser, our 8th annual Long Island Ducks performance, and our 3rd Making Wishes Grow production. They also were our first team to participate in our Wingman program to promote a supportive environment where teammates are encouraged to go above and beyond for each other. We are so very proud of these wonderful dancers and would like to congratulate them on a fantastic year!

The Dance Connection Competition Team gets a short summer break to relax and unwind, but will be back in the studio for Summer Classes this week and will have their first rehearsal (where they will welcome any new members interested in joining) at the end of August. Looking ahead, the team will be performing in Walt Disney World this upcoming year as part of the year’s events! Keep checking in for the exact date of the first rehearsal, we hope to see you there!
