Getting to Know You: Miss Ava!
Written by Joe Naftal on September 22, 2017

Today we are featuring Miss Ava from our office staff  in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You” for our 2017-2018 dance year!  The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.

In her free time, Miss Ava enjoys reading or going into the city to see Broadway shows (especially musicals!).

Aside from her work at Dance Connection, Miss Ava has an education background, currently working for the Bay Shore school district.

The most challenging thing Miss Ava has ever learned in dance was how to be her own motivator. She says it’s so important to support yourself through difficult times, because the feeling of accomplishment once you’ve achieved your goal is so much stronger!

Miss Ava works at Dance Connection because “it doesn’t feel like another job. I enjoy spending time with the Dance Connection family and watching all of our dancers continue to learn and grow”.

Miss Ava’s Favorites:

Movies: Beauty and the Beast, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and The Breakfast Club
Book:  The Ballet Companion by Eliza Gaynor Minden
Inspirational Quote: “You win or you learn. You never lose.” – Norman Vincent Peale
Comfort Food: Macaroni & Cheese
Favorite Time of Year at Dance Connection: Holiday Party Week!

The best advice that Miss Ava has for our DC students is to “find the joy in each class you take, and take the time to recognize and celebrate all of your achievements. It’s so important to remember where you started, and see how far you have come.”  Her advice for our DC Parents is that “there is so much more going on in the classroom than what you can observe from the windows in the lobby. All of the Dance Connection teachers and staff are here to support each individual dancer, and we have their best interests in mind with every decision we make.”
