Getting to Know You: Miss Christina!
Written by Joe Naftal on November 13, 2018

Today we are featuring Miss Christina, in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You”!  The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.

What is your hometown? Bay Shore, NY

What’s the story of how you became a dancer?  I began dancing at the age of 3 and have always loved to dance. I became a teacher by chance! Miss Mary thought I would be a good fit the summer I graduated high school. She had my train just like the TTP and gave me 2 summer ballet classes and my love for teaching grew from there!

What impact has dance had on your life? Dance has impacted my life in so many ways! It has given me strength on my weakest days. It has given me an extended family as well! It has allowed me to step through the doors of a dance studio and forget anything about anything else going on in my world.

When did you start teaching dance? I began teaching when I was 17.

What are you passionate about outside dance? I love to cook and bake! I am that weirdo that loves food shopping!

What question do you wish students would ask sooner rather than later? I wish they would ask me why I gave them a correction sooner. I think if they focused on why they were getting corrected earlier in their years they would excel sooner.

In your opinion, what makes dance such a great activity and art form? I think dance is an emotional outlet and a wonderful form of self expression. I also think it had great motivating qualities that transfer into life outside of dance.

Favorite Color? Pink

Favorite Dance Movie? Centerstage

Secret Talent? I’m really crafty and can make centerpieces really well! I actually made Miss Meghan’s centerpieces for her bridal shower.
