Getting to Know You: Miss Erin!
Today we are featuring Miss Erin, our Public Relations Coordinator, in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You” for our 2017-2018 dance year! The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.
In her free time, Miss Erin enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, listening to podcasts, and watching Liverpool play soccer.
Miss Erin and her family has two dogs in the house, Jonas and Bella, and a cat named AJ.
Miss Erin has performed as long as she can remember, but had formal dance and performance training starting at around 12 years old. She also has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Musical Theatre Performance from the University of Tampa and worked and performed at the CM Performing Arts Center right before joining Dance Connection’s staff.
The most challenging thing Miss Erin ever learned in dance was Ballet. She said “learning to hold yourself properly and the strength and grace that is required to really master Ballet takes lots of hard work.”
What Miss Erin likes best about working at Dance Connection is “how positive and supportive the atmosphere is here at the studio. The teachers and staff really commit themselves to making sure the students have the best experience possible, and they work really hard to pass on their love of dance to every student.”
Miss Erin’s Favorites:
Movie: A Night at the Opera with the Marx Brothers. “I’ve seen it a thousand times with my Dad, and I’ve even seen it up on the big screen with my husband, but it still never fails to make me laugh and the music in it is wonderful!”
Book: Toe Shoe Mouse “It’s the most adorable story and my daughters love it!”
Inspirational Quote: “Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.” – Walt Disney
Comfort Food: Chicken fingers and a chocolate milkshake.
Favorite Time of Year at Dance Connection: “It may sound crazy, but I love Recital Week! It’s the culmination of a year of hard work for all of our teachers, staff, and students, and I really have fun going from Dress Rehearsals all the way to the last show. It actually makes me sad to break down the lobby!”
The best advice that Miss Erin has for our DC students and parents is to “always remember that the Dance Connection teachers and staff are here to help you and your dancer. We will always have the time to talk to you if you have concerns, or if your dancer is having any kind of challenge or struggle. Our teachers are especially good at reminding our students of their potential and how far they’ve come, and encouraging them to keep working toward their goals.”
