Getting to Know You: Miss Melissa!
Today we are featuring Miss Melissa in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You”! The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.
Miss Melissa doesn’t have many hobbies because she spends most of her time with her three kids and her brother that she cares for, but enjoying a good book is her favorite way to pass time. Her favorite restaurant is Mannino’s Restaurant in Oakdale. Her favorite dish there is Chicken Giancarlo. Miss Melissa is definitely a morning person – she needs to be in bed “EARLY”! If she could have any super power in the world, she would choose the ability to make her children and her students know that they are all special, they are all valued, and that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to. “It seems like too many kids get discouraged and give up.” She wants them to know to NEVER give up and keep trying. They will get it! Miss Melissa enjoys working at a dance studio because she loves getting to see the kids and their parents as well as seeing how happy they are when they come out of class! Her favorite of styles of dance to watch are Classical Jazz and Tap numbers – she says “there is nothing like seeing a throwback to the days of Fred and Ginger!”
Additional fun fact: Miss Melissa has been a social studies teacher for over 20 years. Need help with a question on your social studies midterm or have a random question about U.S. History? Be sure to ask Miss Melissa!
