Getting to Know You: Miss Sarah
Written by Rose Ryf on March 29, 2022

Today we are featuring Miss Sarah in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You”!  The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.

  • What is your favorite thing about teaching dance? My favorite thing about teaching is choreographing and watching my students enjoy our dance. I love teaching them all my knowledge of dance. Another thing I love is improving with props and watching them have fun dancing to the music.

  • What’s the most daring thing you’ve done?  The most daring thing I ever did was cut off 8 inches of my hair to donate to Locks of Love. Once when I was 7 and once when I was 18.

  • What is your favorite childhood memory? My favorite childhood memory is when I got a letter in the mail saying I got into the Teacher Training Program and my journey to becoming a dance teacher began.

  •  What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby is shopping and exploring coffee houses.

  • Who was your favorite dance teacher when you were a child, and why?  I cannot pick just one teacher as my favorite. When I was younger, my favorite dance teachers were Miss Christina, Miss Jenn, and Miss Molly. Miss Christina had a big impact on my ballet training and shaped me into the ballet dancer I am now. She was also extremely inspiring and always left time during our ballet classes to speak to the class on how to be a better dancer and even taught life lessons. Miss Jenn was my tap and jazz teacher when I was younger. I took many of her tap classes as a challenge and she was always very welcoming and inspiring.  She taught me not to give up, even though it was a challenge. I always wound up being her student teacher or assistant for many years. She was a big part of my teacher training and helped me become a dance teacher. Miss Molly had a very big impact on my dance training as a whole. During all of my years of dancing, she would never ever give up on me no matter what. We had a lot of ups and downs over the years. She always put in the time and effort to help me succeed.

  • What song would you sing at Karaoke?  I would sing any Billy Joel song at karaoke.
