Getting to Know You: Student Teachers!

Today we are featuring our Student Teachers in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You”!  The student teachers are part of Dance Connection’s Teacher Training Program and student teach in our classes each week.

Dance Connection believes in providing a warm, safe, and professional atmosphere where each student is cared for within the Dance Connection family. We are proud to also offer a Teacher Training Program to our more serious students. It is a forum for students to gain training in teaching as well as job responsibility. Enrollment in our Teacher Training Program will provide members with the highest standard of mentoring and guidance. Dance Connection is strongly committed to enriching and nourishing the future teachers and citizens of our community. Regardless of your future career path, Dance Connection feels confident that all members of the Teacher Training Program will leave our program having learned the important life skills of: respect, responsibility, accountability, discipline, confidence, and professionalism.

 

 

Sarah Davidman
Sarah enjoys to listen to music and sing in her free time.  Her family has 2 cats, 1 dog, and 1 guinea pig.  Sarah’s favorite styles of dance are ballet and contemporary and her favorite dance she’s performed is “You Can’t Stop the Beat”.  Her favorite time of year at Dance Connection is dress rehearsal/recital week.  Sarah loves being a part of the Teacher Training Program because she loves working with kids and teaching them her love for dance.
Ashley Flyntz
In her free time, Ashley loves to volunteer and have fun with her friends.  She also plays the violin and is in her school’s orchestra.  Her favorite style of dance is contemporary (she is currently in her second year of taking contemporary class at Dance Connection) and her favorite recital dance was “Breathe”, her contemporary dance last year.  Her favorite time of the year at Dance Connection is June, for the recital. This is her eleventh year dancing and she always loves recital season.  Ashley said she loves being a teacher trainee in preschool and combo classes because she likes to help others.
Thomas Henderson
In his free time, Thomas likes to listen to music and dance around his dance room at home.  His favorite style of dance is tap and his favorite song that he’s danced to is “Friend Like Me” one of his 2016-2017 solo songs.  The Henderson family has a dog named Charlie.  His favorite time of the year at Dance Connection is recital week.  Thomas likes being in the Teacher Training Program because he likes passing his knowledge of dance on to younger students.
Isabella Iacovelli
Isabella likes to travel, go to the beach, and spend time with her friends.  Contemporary is her favorite style of dance and her favorite song that she’s danced to is “Mr. Postman”, which she danced to for her first year on the competition team, when she was 9.  The Iacovelli family has a Havanese named Pumpkin (named so because Isabella got him on Halloween).  Her favorite time of the year at Dance Connection is Christmastime, because it is the season for giving and she gets to perform for the children of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  She also loves the Christmas music in her dance classes and when Miss Christina plays “The Nutcracker” in her ballet class.  Isabella likes the Teacher Training Program because it’s fun, every class is a new experience, and she enjoys watching her students grow and seeing them at the recital in their costumes.
Nyomi Jurado
In her free time, Nyomi likes to read, especially books written by Rick Riordan.   Her favorite style of dance is Contemporary.  The Jurado family has 3 dogs, a pitbull named Buster, a bulldog named Tanaka and a teacup chihuahua named Bella. Nyomi’s favorite time of the year at Dance Connection is Christmas.  She thinks it’s so much fun dressing up in pajamas all week, doing the holiday grab bag, and having fun with her friends. Nyomi likes being a part of the Teacher Training Program because she likes to help the little ones.  She think’s it’s fun and gives her responsibility!

Ginger Mastrosimone
Ginger enjoys going for bike rides and hanging out with her friends and family in her free time.  Her favorite styles of dance are Jazz and Contemporary.  Her favorite dance she’s ever been in was “Walking on Sunshine” and her favorite time of year at Dance Connection is dress rehearsal week.  Ginger likes the Teacher Training Program because she gets to meet many students and gets to do what she loves.
Lilly Scholl
In her free time, Lilly loves spending time with her friends and family.  She also takes part in activities at school and at her church.  Her favorite style of dance is jazz.  She also really enjoys musical theater.  The School family has a nine year old cat named Jade, who is very affectionate and loves people.  There are many songs that Lilly has enjoyed dancing too, but her current favorite is “Feel It Still”, a song they’re dancing to in her Jazz class.  Her favorite time of the year at Dance Connection is Christmas time.  She enjoys dressing int he holiday spirit and listening to holiday music during party week.  When asked why she joined the Teacher Training Program, Lilly responded, “I’ve always loved looking after kids younger than me. When I heard about the teacher training program, I knew it would be great for me. I love sharing my dance knowledge with younger students.”

Dejia Solomon

Dejis enjoys listening to music and reading books, especially the Harry Potter series, in her free time.   Her favorite style of dance is Tap and her favorite song that she’s danced to was “Walk Like an Egyptian”, her tap dance in the recital last year.  The Solomon family has one dog named Belle.  Dejia’s favorite time of the year at Dance Connection is crunch time when there’s only a few more classes until the recital, when costumes come in, and when she gets to perform in front of different classes.  She likes being in the Teacher Training Program because she likes helping little kids learn to love dance like she does!
