Our Teachers’ Favorite Live Dance Performance
Written by Erin Sforza on January 24, 2020

As performers there is nothing more inspiring than being able to experience a fantastic live performance. You pick up the energy and the passion, the joy that the performers have even from the audience. Some performances can leave a lasting impression that you can draw from for years and drift back to when you are looking for that extra edge before a big show. We asked our teachers to share some of the live performances that really left a mark and became their favorites.

Miss Ava

I love going to see Broadway shows – especially musicals. If I had to think of a favorite live dance performance from a musical, it would probably be the dancing in “Newsies.” I am a huge fan of the storyline, but the dancing in that show was very impressive. I loved how the cast showed such strength in their dancing, but made it look so fun and easy at the same time. One of my favorite memories was during “Seize the Day” when they danced on sheets of newspaper!

Miss Victoria

My favorite live performance that I’ve seen was Wicked. This broadway show not only had a great storyline but some of my favorite music to date. In fact I saw this show 3 times… that’s how good it was.

Miss Jenn

Going off of my favorite performer, my favorite performance I have seen is Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da funk. The broadway show with an amazing story on history it was a great show of expression and remarkable dancing. As well as watching my students perform!

Miss Kellyann

A few Years ago I saw “School of Rock” on Broadway and I was crazy impressed with the young kids rocking out to the music while actually playing the instruments. It’s something I’ll never forget.

Miss Erin

The best live performance I’ve seen was when I saw Sara Bareilles in the musical Waitress.  I really love her music and she is my favorite singer. The Waitress soundtrack is  my top choice.  The songs she wrote for the show are perfection.  Getting the chance to see her play the lead character singing her songs live was indescribable and unforgettable.

Miss Donna

My all time favorite live performance? I have 2! First, was Les Miserables on Broadway. It was my first real Broadway show and it was absolutely breathtaking and I remember crying through ENTIRE second act. I bought the cassette tape, yes, I did say cassette tape, and knew every word soon after. Second, was Wicked. Of course, as most people know about me, I’m a Wizard of Oz freak lol, and then seeing this was incredible! Yep, bought that CD and knew every word (still do).  I actually went to see it again with my daughter and she knew every word before even seeing it since every car ride was spent listening to that CD!

Miss Arial

My favorite live performance that I’ve seen would have to be a Madonna concert. I absolutely loved the choreography from this performance as well as the way she remastered some iconic songs of hers. It was very memorable!

Miss Melinda

My favorite live performance has to be the Radio City Rockettes.  Their precision and cleanliness is second to none.  Plus Christmas is my favorite time of year so I love the music and it really gets you into the holiday spirit.  I could see it every year and it would never get old!
