In Step With DC
Our Teachers’ Favorite Performers
Written by Erin Sforza on November 15, 2019

Every one of our teachers began their dance journey with a love of dance and expression through movement. Like any passion, you find people who inspire you and leave you in awe of their unmatched talent and creativity. Some of our teachers were nice enough to share their favorite performers with me.

Miss Ava

My favorite performer is Savion Glover. He is an amazing tap dancer, and I’ve always been inspired by his talents. It’s a pleasure to be able to attend his shows, because each one is unique and a great reminder of how far tap has come throughout the years.

Miss Victoria

My favorite performer would have to be Christina Aguilera. This was my first concert ever and I remember how excited I was.

Miss Jenn

Savion Glover, he is one of the most amazing American Tap Dancers, actor, and choreographer. His style of tap dancing is unique, a pounding style of tap called “hitting”.

Miss Erin

I have two favorite performers Sutton Forster and Ryan Steele. I really like Sutton Forster because she is a well rounded performer and an amazing singer. I love Ryan Steele because he’s an amazing dancer. His technique is impeccable and I really look up to him.

Miss Donna

I can’t say I have only one favorite performer for many reasons, but here’s a few! They range from Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye and the more current Michael and Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Derek and Julianne Hough. All of them are multi talented and mesmerizing to watch and can take me to another world while watching them!

Miss Arial

My favorite performer would have to be Lady Gaga. I love the suspense of never knowing what she will do. She is such an “out of the box” performer and I love everything from her music, dancers, and everything she puts into her unique performances.

Miss Melinda

My favorite performers are Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.  They just fit perfectly together and make dancing look effortless.  I love watching their old movies, sometimes I wish I was born in that era.

Miss Kellyann

Both Ne-Yo and Bruno Mars are my favorites because of their similarities. They both make the choreography they do so smooth and effortless and are always engaged with the audience. They never miss a beat!
