About Solos, Duets, and Trios
The requirements set forth for solos, duets, and trios apply to both new and returning dancers. Dancers interested in any of these opportunities are required to submit an application expressing their interest. Solos, duets, and trios will be awarded to those dancers whom, above exhibiting representational talent as a dancer, also are displaying exemplary devotion to the artistry of dance, dedication to achieving accurate technique, and inflexible commitment to their art and to the team. The dancer’s class enrollment, in-class and in-rehearsal performance, and out-of-class practice commitment should reflect that of a serious dancer.
In addition to the team’s minimum class requirements, these dancers are required to double-up in the style of their solo, duet, or trio. For example, a dancer doing a jazz trio must take two jazz classes and a dancer doing a contemporary solo must take a contemporary and an additional ballet or jazz class to build foundational skills needed for the solo, duet, or trio.
These opportunities will require additional rehearsal hours, practicing time, and will need to pay for the routine’s choreography, entry fees, costumes, and for all private lessons needed to learn the choreography and work/clean the routine.
Decisions regarding solos, duets, and trios will be at the sole discretion of the artistic director. The artistic director reserves the right to impose additional requirements as necessary for solo, duet, and trio opportunities.
