Dance Teacher
Korinne Mesimeris began dancing at the age of 4 and has studied various styles of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical and modern. Korinne’s family owned a dance studio on Long Island for 25 years where she taught all styles of dance to students ages 3-adult. Over the years, Korinne’s studio and students traveled to perform in various events. She and her students attended local and national competitions, charity events, festivals, and dance-a-thons. Her students also participated in events such as the Six Flags Great Adventure Dancefest for many years and traveled to Florida to perform in the Capital One Bowl halftime show. At her studio, Korinne was involved in many different choreography projects, planning and directing the annual dance recital along with training dedicated dancers who were involved in the studio’s company and student teacher training program. Korinne was a licensed Zumba instructor and taught Zumba for Kids. She created many specialty classes including FUNdamentals a technique based, prop class with a musical theatre flair. Korinne is also a certified Special Education Teacher who has created a format for special needs dance classes to ensure opportunities for dancers of all abilities.
Korinne Mesimeris is a Special Education teacher and Educational & Inclusion / Curriculum Specialist. She managed the student teacher training program and developed a FUNdamentals program – a technique, prop based class with a musical theatre flair. She and her students attended local and national competitions, charity events, festivals, and dance-a-thons. For many years her students also participated in events such as the Six Flags Great Adventure Dancefest and in the Capital One Bowl halftime show in Orlando, Florida. Most recently, Korinne has worked as a dance teacher, competition choreographer for soloist, duos/trios, groups, production, and three teams which won National Champions, Special Awards and scholarships. Korinne supported and mentored dancers in a Student Ambassador Program (student teacher program) and designed an inclusive dance program for children with special needs using the fundamentals of ABA, incorporating creative movement while supporting occupational-type therapies.
