In Step With DC
This Year We Are Truly Thankful
Written by Erin Sforza on November 27, 2020

This year has been more than challenging. As teachers, parents, and community members we’ve seen the effect that lockdowns and the total restructuring of day to day routines has been. At Dance Connection we have placed a focus not just on the health and safety of our students, but the effort to give them a safe haven in the middle of everything going on. We’ve always hoped to be a place where they can shake off their day and just lose themselves in the joy of dance, and that is more important now than it may ever have been. It’s for this reason among many others that we are thankful just to be here, in the studio. We’re thankful for all of the families that stuck with us through Zoom classes, who made their Red Carpet Recital into something both different and incredibly special. We’re thankful for the community who jumped in to donate to our scholarship fund, to join us for dance parties, lip sync and TikTok challenges, and the parents and siblings who danced with our little ones to help keep them motivated throughout it all. Our DC families are so precious to us, and we hope that you know how much we value having your trust with your child’s dance education. This year we wanted to make sure to give our teachers and staff the opportunity to express what they will be thankful for.

2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, but there is always something to be thankful for.  I am thankful that although life is different now my family is healthy and safe.  We have gotten to spend more time together than we would have normally in a regular year.  I am thankful that we have gotten back into the studio and that I get to see my students in person again.

This year I am most thankful for my mom. She survived colon cancer surgery in January at age 86, and has had such a tough time being alone for so long due to Covid and now being 87 years old and not being able to go out. She is so strong and such a trooper and I am so blessed to still have her in my life!  <br>Love you mom!

From our Dance Connection family to yours, we hope you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
