Favorite Memories of Dad’s Company
Written by Erin Sforza on February 23, 2021

It’s almost time for the Dads, Uncles, Grandpas, or really any of the wonderful guys in our lives to sign up and head into the studio to start working on their number for recital. They were missed greatly last year, so we are crazy excited to have them back on stage this year. To celebrate, we asked some of our alumni for their best memories from being a part of this beloved group of guys.

“Of the many Dad’s Company memories I have, my favorites were the good times and the laughs shared, as well as the friendships made that lasted years. The “newbies” were always made to dance in the front line (a kind of initiation). When the dance would go awry we would all shout “Saving it!” and then we did. I also enjoyed working backstage with the Dads experiencing a side of Dance Connection that most don’t see. Although we tested Miss Mary’s patience (for which she had an unlimited amount) my favorite part of participating in Dad’s Company was seeing the smile on my daughter’s face as she shouted “That’s My Dad!”

Ritchie Flick, Dad’s Company Alumni

“I love embarrassing my kids! When we did “Tight Pants” I was on stage with them so everyone got to see exactly who I am embarrassing.”

Russ Gobetz, 9th year Dad’s Company member

“My best memories are all the laughs that we share during the rehearsals, especially when we get Miss Mary to really laugh. I also loved getting to be on stage with my daughter and having them cheer us on as we competed together at Nationals”

Jason Sforza, 7th year Dad’s Company member

“Dad’s company is a fun activity. Hanging out with the other dad’s at practice, and performing for the audience at the recital is fantastic! It is also great that I get to share in what my wife and daughter love to do.”

Lou Civitella, 11th year Dad’s Company member

“I had to be Miss Mary’s dance partner one year, and I spent the whole time acting like a nervous kid. I actually blushed at one point!”

James Temps, 6th year Dad’s Company member

“I love the goofy, uncoordinated moves at rehearsals, but I will definitely never forget putting on my tights for the first time when we did “Men in Tights”

Justin Fernandez, 2nd year Dad’s Company member

Signups open to join this fun-loving and crowd-pleasing group of Dads Monday, March 1st at 6pm. You can sign up in studio, or online by clicking here!
