Frequently Asked Questions
Acro Dance is a style that blends classical dance technique with acrobatic skills like balancing, limbering, tumbling, and contortion. Unlike gymnastics, the focus is on seamless transitions, performance quality, and artistic expression within a dance context.
While Acro and Gymnastics may include similar tricks, they are very different disciplines:
Acro Dance is an art form that combines dance and acrobatics. It’s performed on hard dance floors, with tricks woven into choreography using strength, flexibility, and flow.
Gymnastics is a competitive sport focused on athleticism, scoring, and apparatus-based routines like vault, beam, and bars, often on spring floors.
Acro dancers must execute tricks without spring assistance and maintain grace and control as part of a dance performance. The goal is fluidity, not just skill execution.

Absolutely! We believe in transparency and connection. Parents are always welcome to observe class. Our Islip location features observation windows and we also provide secure access to our private live stream app—so you can watch from anywhere or share your child’s dance moments with family near and far.
Yes! Acro dancers have the exciting option to participate in our annual June recital. It’s a fun and confidence-building experience, but completely optional. Costumes are ordered in December, and recital tickets go on sale in May. Whether or not your child performs, they’ll still enjoy a full season of joyful movement and learning.
