In Step With DC
Dance Connection’s Night at the Ballpark
Written by Erin Sforza on May 1, 2018

Every year for the past nine years Dance Connection has been fortunate enough to perform for the fantastic Long Island Ducks fans. It’s a night that our studio looks forward to not only for the excitement of performing for our local community, but for the fun we have spending a night out at the ballpark with our family and friends.

In order to be a part of the performing group, dancers attend an audition, which is scheduled for Sunday May 6th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm and if they are accepted into the group rehearse diligently for only a few weeks to put together a top notch performance. It’s a lot of work and takes a ton of stamina and dedication, but the end result is truly worth it.

I’ve attended the performance and game for the past few years and I can honestly say the performance level that our dancers are at is amazing and always makes me proud. Ducks fans absolutely love to watch them and are truly supportive of our group. It takes a lot to go out onto that field in front of so many people and never let on that you may be nervous!

Our dancers take the field prior to the game to perform and then we all get together in the Dance Connection section of seats to take in our Long Island Ducks as they face off against the opposing team. The games themselves have so many great contests and trivia moments, plus who can resist ballpark food and everyone’s fave mascot Quackerjack? The night is capped off by a fireworks show that never disappoints and lots of impromptu dancing as we make our way back to the parking lot.

Even if your dancer is not looking to be a part of the performance, your family is welcome to come out and support your DC family at the stadium. The Competition Team will be selling tickets as one of the team’s fundraisers, and you’ll even have the option of including food for the evening with your ticket!

It’s a definite sign that summer has arrived and I am so excited to head back “out to the ball game”!
