Getting to Know You: Miss Melinda!
Written by Joe Naftal on December 12, 2017

Today we are featuring Miss Melinda in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You”!  The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.

In her free time, Miss Melinda enjoys spending time with her husband Lou, daughter Emily, and son Matthew.  Her son has a guinea pig named Vader (after Darth Vader from Star Wars).

Her favorite song that she’s ever danced to was “Sing Sing Sing”.  Her favorite songs that she choreographed are “Jai Ho” and “Earth Song”.  The most challenging step she ever learned was multiple pirouettes on Pointe.

Miss Melinda has worked at Dance Connection since we first opened.  She choses to work at Dance Connection because she has made great friendships that have become more like family.  She says that “Dance Connection is a great place to work.”

Miss Melinda’s Favorites:

Movies: Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and White Christmas (she loves musicals!)
Dance related book:  Dancers Among Us
Inspirational Quote: “Practice Like You’ve Never Won, Perform Like You’ve Never Lost”
Comfort Food: Ice Cream and Chicken Parmigiana
Favorite Time of Year at Dance Connection: Christmas time.  Miss Melinda says “I LOVE CHRISTMAS!  I love watching the kids see Santa arrive and how excited they get with their presents.”

The best advice that Miss Melinda has for our DC students is “don’t compare yourself to others each one of you are special in your own unique way, the world would be boring if everyone was the same, enjoy the journey!”  For our DC parents, she suggests they “enjoy every moment of their daughter or son’s childhood it goes so quickly and don’t sweat the small stuff.”
