Dance Teacher

Kristen is an English & Dramatics Arts teacher for the Deer Park School District. She has a minor in Theatre and Dance from SUNY Stony Brook and a Masters in Educational Leadership from The College of St. Rose. She was a member of the Stony Brook Dance Ensemble, Spare Change Dance Company, danced and choreographed for The American College Dance Festival, and performed at Russell Markert’s (Founder, Director of the Radio City Rockettes) 90th Birthday Celebration. Kristen has been a kickline coach and Director and Choreographer for plays, musicals, and festivals in Deer Park since 1997. In 2003, she started a dance program at Deer Park High School. She currently teaches a dramatic arts course through Five Towns College and directs yearly workshops through BOCES Arts in Education. She is a member of the New York State Theatre Educators Association (NYSTEA) and presents at the student conference each year in Villa Roma. Kristen is an active member of The Long Island Coalition Against Bullying and is President of the Islip Arts and Music Parents. Former owner and Artistic Director of Dance Expressions, Studio 231, Inc., Kristen’s students and dance company The K.E.D.E.D.T.s performed and competed for many years, also participating and performing in the Big Apple Tap Festival, Six Flags Great Adventure’s Dance Fest, Thrill the World, Walt Disney World, and at the Capital One Bowl.
