Getting to Know You: Miss Melinda
Written by Rose Ryf on October 22, 2021

Today we are featuring our Studio Manager Miss Melinda in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You”!  The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.

  • What is your favorite thing about teaching dance? My favorite thing about teaching dance is seeing my students grow.  Whether it is in the same year or from year to year.  I love how excited they get when they finally get a step that they had been working on for awhile.  I also love when I have taught a student and then they have different teachers here at Dance Connection and then they are back in my class a couple of years later and I get to see how much they have grown as a person as well as a dancer.  It is great to be a part of so many dancers’ lives in my 33 years here at Dance Connection.
  • What’s the most daring thing you’ve done?  I’m not a very daring person to be honest, but I do want to try White Water Rafting, that seems daring to me.  I have done Kayaking and rafting but I think I am ready for some rapids!
  • What is your favorite childhood memory? I have a lot of favorite childhood memories. One of my favorite childhood memories was one Christmas. I really wanted a Cabbage Patch Doll and had saved my money to buy one but couldn’t find one anywhere. Santa came through and on Christmas morning there was a Cabbage Patch Doll under the tree waiting for me.  It was a great Christmas not only for the great present but the time spent with family and later in life I realized how special that present was and the lengths Santa went to, to make sure I got that doll.
  • What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby would be traveling with my family, whether it is a quick weekend getaway or a longer vacation, spending time with my husband and children and exploring new places is my favorite thing to do.
  • Who was your favorite dance teacher when you were a child, and why? My favorite dance teacher would probably be my first dance teacher at age 5, Miss Gail. She showed me how much fun dancing was, and I was hooked and haven’t stopped yet!
  • What song would you sing at Karaoke? If I was to go to Karaoke I would probably sing either Girls Just Wanna Have Fun or Don’t Stop Believing.
