Disney Trip 2022

The goal for the performance trip is to offer the dancers an approximately 25 minute long performance onstage at Walt Disney World.  As well as a workshop with a Disney dancer and a group photo inside the park.

The performance is organized through Disney Performing Arts – a division of Disney Youth Programs at Walt Disney World.  They are the people at Disney that organize the performances and workshops in the park.

WHO can go?

Dancers in our Holiday Show company (ages 6 & up) will be invited to go on the Disney trip.   You do not need to be a current holiday show or Performance Company member to sign up for the trip, you only need to be a member by next fall.  Auditions for next year’s holiday show are held in August or early September 2022.  While auditions aren’t until the fall, it is important to sign up for the trip ahead of time so that your room and airfare are booked in time.  Every dancer will be guaranteed at least one dance.  Additional dances are based on performance at auditions.

Dancers will need to take the minimum class requirements (starting at one class per week) and attend all holiday show rehearsals.  Dancers cannot go on the Disney trip if they are not in the holiday show.  However, holiday show cast members are not required to go on the Disney trip.  It is optional.

This trip is for dancers and at least one parent/guardian.  It is not a chaperoned trip.  Families are encouraged to bring along siblings, grand parents, and other family members who want to join for the Disney fun!

WHEN will the trip be?

We are requesting a performance and workshop date for December 28-29, 2022.  This is subject to change at the discretion of Disney Performing Arts stage calendar.  We hope to have the date solidified by the end of 2021.

Families will stay at our host resort for at least 2 nights December 27-28, but are welcome to extend their stay at the host resort or move to another Orlando-area resort to extend their trip.

WHERE will we be staying?

Our Host Hotel will be the Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club in Orlando.  It is approximately 10 minutes from Walt Disney World.

The hotel includes condo-style villas with kitchens or kitchenettes.  The resort includes the following amenities:

  • Complimentary Shuttle to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and Sea World Orlando
  • Four Heated Pools
  • Fitness Center
  • Golf
  • Activities Center
  • Business Center
  • Bike Rentals
  • Basketball
  • Miniture Golf
  • Batting Cage
  • Movie Theater
  • BBQ
  • Tennis
  • Shuffleboard

Families will stay at our host resort for at least 2 nights December 27-28, but are welcome to extend their stay at the host resort or move to another Orlando-area resort to extend their trip.

One condition of the trip is that Disney Performing Arts does not allow participating families to arrange a private leisure group through Disney Group Sales.

WHAT will the trip cost?

We have worked to make this magical stage experience as affordable for families as possible.  With that being said, there are plenty of ways to make the trip more magical, and those come with extra expenses.  Some families chose to use this opportunity to create a special family vacation around the performance trip, while others limit their trip to the performance experience. There is a range to what families will spend on this trip based on the following factors:

  • Flying vs. driving from New York to Orlando.
  • Number of hotel night stays.
  • Staying at the off-property host hotel for extended trip vs. moving to an on-property and/or premium resort.
  • Number of park ticket days and premium options like Park Hoppers, Water Parks, etc.
  • Dining options – The host resort rooms feature kitchenettes or kitchens which can reduce dining expenses.  Dining in the parks and at specialty restaurants can be expensive.

We’ve outlined the minimum expenses for the trip below.  Please keep in mind that these costs are approximate and subject to change.

  • Airfare/Transportation – Some parents prefer to drive to Disney.  Others prefer to fly.  Both options are okay!  There are many direct flights from MacArthur airport to Orlando as well as flights from JFK, LGA, and Newark. Those wanting to drive will save money on airfare, but spend on gas and parking.  Those wanting to fly could get a great deal on a budget airline or spend more for a premium seat on a top-tier airline.  There’s definitely range and flexibility in this department.
  • Hotel – Mystic Dunes Hotel Rates are as follows:

    Studio (sleeps 4) – $168 to $203
    1 Bedroom (sleeps 4) – $176 to $211
    2 Bedroom (sleeps 8) – $220 to $255
    3 Bedroom (sleeps 10) – $369 to $439

Prices range is based on date.  Prices include tax and resort fee.

  • Disney Workshop – The additional workshop (for ages 10 & up) is approximately $36 per dancer.

  • Walt Disney World Park Tickets – Every dancer MUST purchase a ticket package through Disney Performing Arts.  The performance is included in the ticket package for the dancer. The minimum ticket package for the dancers is a 2-day starter ticket package. This includes 2 days of park admission to one of the parks per day.  It costs $204.25 (normal price $330).  Good news!  Parents and family members can also purchase discount park tickets through the group.
There are also other ticket packages:

    2 Day – $204.25 (normal price $330)
    3 Day – $264.95 (normal price $472)

    5 Day – $405.53 (normal price $617)

    These prices include tax.

  • Additional Costs – Company Photo, DVD video, Workshop, Nationals Fee (covers transportation, lodging, and per diem for studio management team members required to be on site at performance events).  Cost is TBD and will depend on number of dancers attending trip.
