Getting to Know You: Miss McKenzie!
Written by Joe Naftal on September 11, 2018

Today we are featuring our newest teacher, Miss McKenzie, in our latest edition of “Getting to Know You”!  The “Getting to Know You” series helps us get to know each of the Dance Connection teachers and staff we get to see at the studio every week and learn a little bit more about them.

1. What do you do in your free time?
I love LOVE to shop (especially Homegoods/Marshalls)
2. Do you have any pets?
No but a golden doodle is on the top of my wishlist.
3. What is your favorite song that you’ve danced to? Choreographed?
Danced- You Cant Stop The Beat- from Hairspray
Choreographed- Surf Crazy- from Teen Beach Movie
4. What was the most challenging step you’ve learned?
Italian Fouettes
5. Why do you choose to be a dance teacher?
I have always loved working with children and always had a passion for dance.  Teaching dance combines them both and it allows you to have an impact on little dancers lives.  I was also so shy that I wouldnt even walk into the studio when my mom brought me to class, until I was 7 years old so I really relate to kids that are afraid to put themselves out there and I love seeing them grow and open up in the studio which the best place to gain confidence.
6. What is your favorite movie?
The Other Woman & Princess Diaries 2
7. What is your favorite inspirational quote?
Everything Happens for a Reason
8. What is your favorite comfort food?
Chicken fingers & french fries
9. What is the best advice you can offer to our students or parents?
Everything will come with time- being able to make it through a class with no tears, nailing the triple pirouette, getting pointe shoes, moving up to an advanced level– dont rush things.  Dance is meant to be fun.  It is an escape and an amazing outlet for self growth, team work, artistic freedom and of course making friends so enjoy every minute of your time in the studio (or waiting room) 🙂
