Getting to Know You: Mr. Joe
Written by Erin Sforza on April 18, 2017

Today we are featuring a member of our Studio Management Team, Mr. Joe!

As a college student, Lighting Designer and our Marketing Director, Mr. Joe doesn’t have a lot of free time, but he loves to spend it traveling (mostly to Europe), going out to eat with friends, and binge-watching his favorite TV shows.

Mr. Joe’s family has two miniature pinschers, Jazzy and Cha Cha.

Although he stopped dancing when he was very young, Mr. Joe is very involved in the performing arts. He is a lighting designer and production manager for plays, musicals, opera, ballet, and modern dance.

Working at Dance Connection is very challenging; he gets to learn new things every day. Through his position at the studio, he gets to meet other Dance Studio Owners from across the world and learn from their own experience and what works for their studio in their corner of the globe.

Mr. Joe loves working at Dance Connection because he loves being a part of an innovative and creative community and is “a strong believer in the importance of an arts education and because of that I believe strongly in the work we do at Dance Connection. We are not only training the performing artists of tomorrow, we are shaping the lives of all of our students. I know firsthand how an arts education impacts you for the rest of your life and I couldn’t be happier than for my job to be to be able to work to continue that impact for others in our studio’s community.”

Mr. Joe’s Favorites:

Movie: It changes everyday, but on the day we asked him it was Moulin Rouge. 

Inspirational Quote: “The creative process is not controlled by a switch you can simply turn on or off; it’s with you all the time.” – Alvin Ailey.

Comfort Food: Mac & Cheese, especially home-made.

Favorite Time of Year at Dance Connection: “Easily recital time! Growing up, I looked forward to the recital every year. I don’t know if it was being on stage, being surrounded by theatricality, or getting to spend so much time inside a theater playing around, but it was definitely my favorite time of year. These days, I have the privilege of being the producer for each year’s recital and managing the production end of things from scenery and lighting to ticket sales and finances.”

My best advice for our students and parents is to feel free to contact any of us anytime you have a question, concern, or suggestion. The studio management team, teachers, and staff are always “all-ears” and we truly want to help in any way we can and are always excited to hear your feedback. If there’s ever a class, workshop, or event that you want and don’t see us offering, definitely let us know. We aim to make your dance experience the best possible and are always looking to know what you want you want out of that experience.
