Recital Company Rehearsals Are Underway!
Written by Erin Sforza on February 5, 2019

This week our Recital Company dancers met in the studio for their first rehearsal and it was so exciting to see how many fantastic dancers will be taking the stage this year! To celebrate Dance Connection’s 30th Anniversary Miss Mary and our teachers have brought back a crowd favorite opening number…The Lion King!

This is one of the biggest numbers that Recital Company has done to date, with larger than life costumes, amazing set pieces and background projections, and the largest cast to participate in our opening number! These dancers were chosen from the largest audition pool we have ever had of almost 60! They made it really tough on our teaching staff to decide who would be invited to participate this year, they would have loved to have everyone included, but they didn’t have room for a cast that size. We are so grateful to everyone who auditioned to help us put together what promises to be an amazing opening number.

Our cast consists of Senior, Junior, and Petite members who are grouped by age range and who will each have their own parts to play as part of the Circle of Life. This first rehearsal was a great way to meet each other and get ready for a few months of working together to make this number come together. Miss Mary spoke to all of them to welcome them and give them an idea what was ahead of them and then they warmed up and split into groups to begin learning the choreography.

It was a day full of smiles and excitement and we can’t wait to see the finished piece!
